The Stair Rota · from The Owners Co.

You don't need the whole stair to agree.

Start your stair's rota today, just you. Take your turns, or set up a yearly cleaning plan. There's nothing to download: it works in your web browser, reminders come by email, and a neighbour who prefers paper gets a printed card through the door.

Edinburgh We're a small Edinburgh outfit, early days yet. Every new stair gets hands-on help from us to get started properly.

How it works

One flat is enough to start.

No meeting, no waiting for the whole stair to agree. Set it up once and the rota rolls round on its own, with everything done kept on your stair's record.

  1. 01

    Start it today

Pop in the address and what needs doing. Your rota goes live today, just you at first.

  2. 02

Take the first turn, or set up the plan

Do the first clean yourself, or set up the yearly cleaning plan and your turns are covered from then on.

  3. 03

Invite the stair when you're ready

We post proper letters to your neighbours, timed to land just after a clean, and write out a note for you to pass on however your stair talks.

  4. 04

    Every joiner makes it better

The stair gets done more often and the price of a visit comes down. Nobody's own turn comes round more often for it.

Each neighbour decides how they take part.

Every stair gets a set per-visit price up front, so there's nothing to negotiate. Both routes keep the same rota fair, and your choice stays private.

Joining

Every flat that joins makes it better.

The rota is planned over the whole stair from day one. A neighbour joining changes two things, and leaves one thing alone.

  • The stair gets done more often

Each flat that joins takes up its own share of the rota, so attention comes round more often for everyone.

  • The price of a visit comes down

A stair that's kept regularly takes less work each visit, so every joiner cuts the per-visit price for everyone in.

  • Your own turn stays put

Your turn comes round on the same fixed interval however many join. Nobody's turn speeds up because a neighbour signed up.

An example stair · 8 flats · fortnightly target · your own turn every 16 weeks

Just you The stair gets done every 16 weeks £45 a visit
3 flats in About every 5 weeks £38 a visit
All 8 in Every fortnight, the target The price keeps falling

These are example prices: every building is priced individually, and you see your stair's set per-visit price up front. While you're signed up, the price only ever moves down, never up. Your own turn is every 16 weeks in every row.

None of it binds anyone. There is nothing to sign, and each flat's choice stays private. If most of the stair joins, the stair can look together at putting the arrangement on a formal footing. That would be a decision the whole stair votes on, never something anyone can impose.

Providers

Use any cleaner you like.

The rota is not tied to one company. A turn just needs done: take it yourself, or hand it to any cleaning firm or independent cleaner your stair trusts. We're building partnerships with more Edinburgh providers, and the first is in place: Capital Stair Services can take your turns without you arranging a thing.

  • Sign up once

Their cleaner comes on your flat's scheduled dates. Nothing to arrange each time, nothing to remember.

  • Pay as you go

You pay Capital Stair Services per visit, only for your own turns, at your stair's set price. Cancel any time.

  • Proof with every visit

You're notified each time the stair is done, with GPS and photo evidence on request.
